Closed this Saturday, and a recent project

First of all, every single member of the HC staff will be taking the day off on Saturday, June 19, and the shop will be closed. Mongo and I will be rolling the inaugural West Side Dirty Benjamin race, and Kevin is out west leading an Adventure Cycling tour.

Just to reiterate:

The shop will be closed on Saturday, June 19. If you need something from HC and can't make it during regular weekday hours, let me know. I am often flexible about staying late or coming in on my usual days off.

Second, we made some improvements to my tandem:

It turns out that skinny tire bikes are not terribly appealing to me, and tandems are no exception.

Lovely pre-owned Rawland for sale

I like these Rawland bikes, a real jack-of-all-trades. This pre-owned example is in excellent, low-mileage condition. Whether you need a commuter, tourer, weekend cruiser, mountain bike, or any other kind of real-world bike, this would be a good choice.

I think this is a size M. Measurements are:
seat tube c-t: 20"/50 cm
effective top-tube c-c: 22"/56 cm
standover at mid-point of top-tube: 31"/79 cm

The head tube is tall and the steerer tube is long, so getting the bars up high isn't a problem. With a few fit adjustments, this should fit most riders between 5'4" and 5'10".

The parts are mostly Deore/LX level with Tektro brakes and levers and a Sugino XD crank. Wheels were handbuilt by me on the elusive but excellent Rigida Sphinx 650B rim (36h front and back).

Complete bike as pictured $1175.

First Annual Brewfarm Classic

On June 26, we will be riding 70 miles or so out to Dave's Brew Farm in Wisconsin, then riding back the next day. There will be great food and beer and camping. We are limiting the bike ride portion of the event to 25 riders, but families and friends (no pets, please) are invited to drive out to the farm for the food, beer, and/or camping. The official invite and more details can be found here.

Ok, We Lied

When we started selling our first run of the first HC poster, we said that when they were gone, they were gone. According to Adam Turman, the artist, these sold faster than virtually any other poster he has ever created for a business.

But, so many people expressed deep and profound remorse about missing out that we had Adam print 30 more. When those 30 are gone (and a number of them already are), it will not be reprinted. Really. We mean it!

So, if you missed out the first time, now is your chance to get one. Still only $25 plus $5 shipping in the Continental USA. Order online here, or stop by the store.

These probably won't last for long. You've been warned.

Cheers

Saturday Ride, 6/6

It being the first Saturday of the month, it's time for a Family Ride. There's no better way to share quality time with your relatives than from the seat of a bicycle.

Bring the whole tribe for a casual ride to some unique and off beat breakfast/coffee joint.

Meet at 8AM at HC World HQ.

Cheers
