Wheelbuilding class, July 25

I've scheduled a wheelbuilding class for Saturday, July 25th, 8AM - Noon, and still have a few spots open. Cost for the class is $60, paid in advance. You'll have to provide your own wheel components for the class, or buy them from us at a competitive price. Please let me know by Wednesday, July 22 if you're interested in attending, and let me know what kind of rims, hubs, and spokes you want (I can offer advice on this, of course).

Sidewalk Sale, and what's on sale

It felt like the whole city was on vacation last week, and while we sold some stuff, we still have to thin our inventory on some items a bit more. Therefore, we will be extending our sale through Saturday, July 18. Almost everything in the store is at least 10% off the usual price. Some bikes will be marked down even more.

Some extra special deals:
All Reelight SL120 battery-free light sets: 2 for the price of 1

Redline 9-2-5 single-speed bicycle (1 left): $459
Redline Metro 9 (several sizes): $519
Torker T520 comfort bikes, step-thru and traditional designs: $329
Torker Boardwalk 3-speed with matching Basil pannier: $299
Rawland Olaf single-speed 20" with good parts: $875 (not including saddle)
Surly Cross-Check single-speed city bike with good parts (56 cm): $775

Some bikes that are not on sale, but in-stock:
Rivendell Sam Hillborne in 56 cm and 60 cm: $1000 frameset, or about $2000 for a bike.
Surly Long Haul Trucker (standard Surly complete bike), 58 cm, green: $1095
Surly Cross-Check (standard Surly complete bike), 54 cm, brown: $1050

To sweeten the deal, any purchase of a not-on-sale, but in-stock Surly or Rivendell will include a $75 gift certificate that can be used for parts, accessories, etc. The gift certificate can be used to buy any item(s) that we have in-stock, shipping charges, or mechanic service.

ANT Boston Roadster from about 2 years ago, 50 cm, used, but barely, nicely equipped with Nexus Premium 8sp hub and hub generator: $1950

All in-stock Arkel products 20% off. Includes Commuter, Bug, Utility Basket, Tailrider, Metropolitan, etc.

Sidewalk sale!

Starting today, July 8, through Saturday, July 11, we will be having a sidewalk sale. Weather permitting, we will have inventory out on the sidewalk, in keeping with the usual traditions of sidewalk sales. Everything in the store will be discounted 10% off the marked price. Selected items, including some bikes, will be discounted even more. The sale pricing does not apply to repair labor, course fees, special orders of non-stock items, or consignment items. Also, it may or may not apply to mail order items, at my discretion. But, even if you don't need anything at the moment, you can get a gift certificate at 10% off, so $45 gets you a $50 certificate, $90 gets you $100, $900 gets you $1000, etc (for you clever, devious types, discounted gift certificates cannot be used to purchase items in the future at the sale price). So stop by soon. We have some really nice stuff in stock right now, and there will be some good deals.

Saturday Ride

We'll have the Saturday ride at 8 AM, as usual, leaving from HC on July 4. The shop isn't scheduled to be open on Saturday, so the ride may be less goal-oriented and more aimless than usual (think "rudderless leadership"). I'm taking suggestions for food/coffee emporiums that are open on the holiday.

Later in the day, I'll be attending the greatest 4th party on Earth. Leaving from the shop around 5 PM, for anybody who wants to make a group ride of it. The return time is up to you, but because I'll be getting up early the next day, I won't be staying too late.
