Texas has it's debutante balls, New Orleans has Mardi Gras and the Big Apple has New Years Eve in Times Square. But those events pale in comparison to what will become the social and cycling event of the winter season here in Minneapolis.
Come join us for the first annual Winter Pedal Pub Crawl, organized with the substantial help of good friend Lanny Hoff of Artisanal Imports. There will be door prizes, beer and food specials, and the opportunity to mingle with a broad and quirky cast of characters.
This is designed to be a cycling event and the 5 pubs are spread out over a whopping 9 mile course. The weather forecast for Sunday is expected to be character building -- 5 above and snowy. But if you or your bike aren't set up for winter riding, drive, dog sled, walk or ski -- its a celebration of winter, cycling and beer.
When: Sunday, January 25
Where: Bulldog, NE at 401 East Hennepin
The festivities start at noon and will continue until the last man/woman is standing. We will have a sag wagon available should anyone need it. For those planning on riding, a group will leave HC at 11:15 for the trip North.
If your liver isn't up to all 5 stops, join us when you can. Here is an approximate schedule (note the ish):
Mackenzie -- 1:30ish
Bull Dog Uptown -- 3ish
Blue Nile -- 4ish
Town Hall -- 5:15ish
Bring your friends, neighbors, co-workers, parents -- anyone and everyone who enjoys good company and great beers.
Cheers

Something tells me this is not a warmup event for Stupor Bowl 12...
can't wait for the women and beer! I mean sausagefest and beer. only 5 below for temps...it will have to get colder to keep me from riding...
Champps - think of this as Stupor Bowl - just riding it in a smoking jacket
In the last post on this, there was a discussion about bringing long bikes. I had stated my intention to ride my Big Dummy. Unfortunately, due to circumstances beyond my control and shaped like an Oldsmobile, this won't be possible.
I'm still intending to be there, just on a shorter bike.
I'll probably ride my short bike...
Long bike, short bike, in-between, all that matters is that you are able to join us!
That was really fun, even though i didn't make it to the last stop. Winning the LS jersey was the icing on the cake, but the whole afternoon was a great time. Thanks, Lanny!
I am all excited because we got to try some new watering holes.
Will there be another crawl this summer?
That was a lot of fun, and it was cool to meet so many of you.
Thanks again Lanny!
That was a really fun event (and very fun to meet more bikey people!) Thanks!
Yes, this will most likely become a semi-annual event.
Thanks for the winter adventure--I don't have much experience with winter biking, so I'm glad one of my first cold-weather rides was such an enjoyable one. Thanks!
